Cities covered

PermitWatch currently covers three cities. Each publishes its own permit data on its own open-data portal, and each publishes a slightly different set of fields.

Chicago

Building permits including declared job cost and the contact on record. Published by the City of Chicago.

Austin

Issued construction permits including contractor company and permit status. Austin does not publish a general declared value, so that field is empty on Austin records.

Seattle

Built-environment permits including estimated project cost and contractor company. Published by the City of Seattle.

More cities

Cities are added when their portal publishes permits with a stable identifier, an address and a date. If a city you need is missing, it is on the list rather than ruled out.
